Tuff

Tuff is a type of soft rock made from volcanic ash ejected from a volcano. After the ash blankets the area, it solidifies and becomes rock. Because of its softness, Tuff has been used for construction since ancient times. Tuff is sometimes erroneously called “tufa,” but tufa is a form of travertine.
