Thrace is an ancient and modern region in southeast Europe, including the European part of Asia Minor. It is bounded by the Balkan mountains to the north, the Aegean Sea to the south, and the Black Sea to the east. It comprises present-day southeast Bulgaria and northeastern Greece. Thrace also includes the European part of Turkey, including Istanbul.
