Tamerlane

Tamerlane (lived 1320s—1405, reigned 1370—1405), also called Timur, was a Turkish-Mongol conqueror who founded the Timurid Empire in the area of modern-day Afghanistan, Iran, and Central Asia. Tamerlane conquered Western, South, and Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Southern Russia. He also won battles and took territory from the Ottoman Turks as they emerged as an empire.
