The Sea Peoples were a mixed group of tribes, probably from the Aegean region, Sicily, Sardinia, Cyprus, and western Asia Minor, during the Late Bronze Age around 1200 BC. At that time, civilization was collapsing because of famine and mass migration. The Sea Peoples attacked the major Bronze Age population centers, including Asia Minor, Syria, Palestine, Cyprus, and Egypt, and are considered responsible for destroying the Hittite Empire.
