John the Apostle (lived c. 6—100 AD) was one of the twelve disciples of Jesus and is generally believed to have been the youngest among them. John’s brother, James, was also one of the twelve disciples. John is traditionally considered the author of the Gospel of John and the three epistles in the New Testament. He is also believed to be the “John of Patmos,” where the Book of Revelation was written while the author was living in exile on the Island of Patmos, now a Greek island off the Mediterranean coast of Türkiye.
