Galen

Galen (lived c. 129—216 AD) was a Roman Greek physician, surgeon, and philosopher, considered one of the most accomplished medical researchers of antiquity. Galen influenced the development of various scientific disciplines, including anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and neurology. Galen was born in Pergamon (today’s Bergama, Türkiye) He traveled the world extensively to learn a wide variety of medical theories and practices before returning to Pergamon to be a physician for gladiators. Galen practiced medicine in the Asclepeion (medical center) of Pergamon, which can still be visited today.
