Classical Antiquity (also called the classical era, period, or age) is the period of European history between the 8th century BC and the 5th century AD. It comprised the interwoven civilizations of ancient Greece and Rome, known as the Greco-Roman world. During this period, ancient Greece and Rome flourished and had a major influence throughout much of Europe, North Africa, and West Asia.
