Originally a settlement, it later became Constantinople and Istanbul. In AD 330, Roman Emperor Constantine the Great founded Constantinople, which he also called “Nova Roma” (New Rome). In 1453, the Ottoman Turks took the city, and renamed it “Istanbul.”

Alexandria Troas
Alexandria Troas, on the Northwestern coast of Türkiye, was a major commercial port during New Testament times. Saint Paul used it to travel to and from Greece during his missionary journeys, and also stayed there and preached the Gospel.
