The ancient regions of Asia Minor, now called Türkiye.
Bithynia was an ancient region, kingdom, and Roman province in the northwest of Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey). Its northern border was the Sea of Marmara, the Bosphorus, and the Black Sea. Its cities included Nicomedia, Chalcedon, Cius, Apamaea, and Nicaea, where the First Ecumenical Council was held and the Nicene Crede was made.
Alexandria Troas, on the Northwestern coast of Türkiye, was a major commercial port during New Testament times. Saint Paul used it to travel to and from Greece during his missionary journeys, and also stayed there and preached the Gospel.
