Battle of Magnesia
« Back to Glossary Index
The Battle of Magnesia was fought in December 190 or January 189 BC between Rome, allied with Pergamum, against Antiochus III, a descendent of Seleucus (a general of Alexander the Great). The Battle was part of a greater war between the Romans and the Seleucid dynasty over territories, including those in Asia Minor. The Romans and Pergamese won, leading to the 188 BC Treaty of Apamea, ending Seleucid domination in Asia Minor.
