Barnabus

Barnabus was a Cypriot Jew from Salamis, the island of Cyprus. He was a disciple of Christ in Jerusalem and accompanied Paul the Apostle on his missionary journeys throughout the various cities of Anatolia (or Asia Minor, today’s Türkiye). According to tradition, Barnabus was eventually martyred in Salamis. He is considered to be the founder of the Cypriot Orthodox Church. His feast day is celebrated on June 11.
