Aurelian (lived 214—275, reigned 270—275) was a Roman emperor during the “Crisis of the Third Century,” when Rome was about to collapse due to barbarian invasions, civil wars, and economic disintegration. He is known for his unprecedented military victories against barbarian invaders and for reclaiming areas of the Roman Empire that had attempted to break away from it.
