Aqueduct
« Back to Glossary Index
An aqueduct is a watercourse constructed to carry a stream of water from a water source to a distribution point far away. It is any system of pipes, ditches, canals, tunnels, and other structures used for this purpose. At the ancient sites of Türkiye and Greece, aqueducts are normally encountered as arched bridges made of brick. However, different parts of the same aqueduct may also involve tunnels and canals.
