Anaximander (c. 610—546 BC) was a pre-Socratic Greek philosopher who lived in Miletus, a city of Ionia (today’s Aegean Türkiye). He was a student of Thales at the Milesian School. Anaximander was an early proponent of science and claimed that the universe is ruled by laws. He is considered one of three of the first philosophers in history, along with Thales and Anaximenes.
