Ahmet I

Ahmet I (1603—1617 AD) was the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 1603 to 1617. He is best known for building the Blue Mosque in the Sultanahmet District of Istanbul, one of the most famous and photographed mosques in the world. Ahmet was also known for banning the Ottoman tradition of royal fratricide, that is, the killing of the brothers of the son who inherits the throne.
