Valens (lived 328—378, reigned 364—378 AD) was named co-emperor of the Roman Empire and given the eastern half of the empire to rule, including Asia Minor and Constantinople. You can still see the aqueduct he built, called the Valens Aqueduct, which spans Atatürk Bulvarı (boulevard) in the Fatih district of Istanbul.
