Empress Irene of Hungary (lived 1088—1134) was the Empress Consort of her husband, John II Komnenos. She played little part in government but, along with her husband John, was a patron of Constantinople. She was later venerated as Saint Irene. Her sarcophagus is in the outer narthex of the Hagia Sophia, and there is a golden mosaic of her in the interior.
