Hammam

A hammam is a public bath. In the hammam, visitors undress themselves and wear a towel for modesty. They then go through warmer and warmer rooms to cause perspiration. A staff member of the same gender thoroughly washes them with soap and a special rubbing cloth to exfoliate the skin. After this, visitors rinse themselves with running water.
