Sokullu Mehmet Paşa

Sokullu Mehmet Paşa (lived 1505—1579, in office 1565—1579) was an Ottoman statesman. He served as a vizier, an admiral in the Ottoman fleet, and a local governor. Eventually, he became the grand vizier (similar to a prime minister) and had the power to govern on behalf of the Sultan.
