Theodosius II (lived 10 April 401—28 July 450 AD, reigned 10 January 402—28 July 450 AD) was a Roman Emperor in Constantinople (today’s Istanbul). He became the emperor upon the death of his father, Arcadius, when he was seven years old. His government was first administered by the praetorian prefect Anthemius, who supervised the construction of the Theodosian Walls. These double walls are the ones that currently protect the ancient city on the land side. They can still be visited and seen today.
