Noah is an early biblical character mentioned in the Book of Genesis in chapters 5—9. According to the biblical story, before God sent a flood to destroy all of Earth’s creatures, Noah labored to build an ark to save his own family and a male and female from each species of animal. As the waters receded, the ark landed on Mount Ararat, which is the highest mountain in Türkiye, in Ağrı province, Türkiye. God then made a covenant with Noah, promising never to destroy the Earth’s creatures with a flood again, and gave him the sign of the rainbow so that he and humanity would remember the covenant. Noah and his family then released the animals and began replenishing the earth with creatures and humans.
