Androclus

Androclus was a mythical prince of Athens and founder of Ephesus who had to leave Athens after his father’s death, King Kodros. He founded Ephesus based on what the Oracle of Delphi had told him, that a fish and a boar would reveal the place to him. When Androclus and his men joined a group of locals who were grilling fish, one fish jumped off the grill and caused a piece of burning wood to go into the grass. A fire started, causing a wild boar to run from the fire. Seeing this, Androclus remembered the oracle’s words and founded the city of Ephesus on that spot.
